Mean Girls-Inspired Marshmallow Treats

The new Mean Girls movie is coming out, so I just had to make something to celebrate it. I decided on marshmallow treats that had a mix of the classic pink theme + the colors and feel of the Burn Book. They have chopped frosted animal cookies in them plus a drizzle of pink chocolate and gummy kisses on top. Fun little snack to sneak into the theater 😉

THE STORY: I loved this movie growing up, so I was excited to see the preview for the 2024 edition. Even more than that, I was happy to see the original cast too! It was hard to decide what to make, but once I saw the strawberry marshmallows, I knew I had to do these treats.

TIPS: If you want to make the marshmallow mixture EXTRA pink, just add a touch of food coloring before stirring in the Rice Krispies. I added black sprinkles to mine for the Burn Book color scheme, but if you don’t want to worry about being extra careful of the color bleeding just use pink.

SPRINKLE OF CREATIVITY: To get a little sweeter, instead of drizzling the treats with pink chocolate, dip them in! Either dip the tops and then add the kisses, or just dip the base and add a stick. They become marshmallow treat pops.

Ingredients

Scale 1x2x3x

• 4 tbsp salted butter
• 1 bag of strawberry marshmallows
• 6 cups Rice Krispies
• 1/2 cup frosted animal cookies, chopped
• Pink chocolate for drizzle
• Gummy lips
• Black or pink sprinkles, optional

Tools:

• 13 x 9 pan
• Parchment paper if desired or cooking spray
• Fondant smoother

Instructions

1. In a large pot, melt the marshmallows and butter over medium-low heat. Be sure to stir them often so that the marshmallows don’t burn.
2. Once melted, remove the pot from the heat and stir in the Rice Krispies until they’re evenly coated.
3. Lastly, fold in the animal cookies just until they’re mixed throughout the krispies. Optional, fold in a couple tablespoons of sprinkles. If you use black, keep in mind the color might bleed a bit so don’t stir too much.
4. Press the mixture into a 13 x 9 pan sprayed with baking spray. You can also use parchment paper + cooking spray if you want to be sure they don’t stick. I lightly press down on them with a fondant smoother.
5. Let the treats cool a bit and then drizzle them with pink chocolate and press the kisses into the chocolate on top. Allow them to cool completely and then cut into rectangles.
