This has been my year of traveling! It was my 2023 goal, and I honestly did more than I thought I would. This last trip was actually a road trip to Amicalola Falls, Georgia. I have spelled this name wrong literally every time I typed it. BUT I think it was my favorite trip of the year. Road trips are always nice because all of your stuff is right there. We stayed at one of the cabins in the lodge and it wasn’t fancy, just perfect. Walking distance to the falls, comfortable beds, and woodsy vibe ✅
We live in Florida, so hiking is always amazing to me…I’d be so fit if I lived here. The weather was perfect and scenery was gorgeous.
I didn’t want to only do “things interesting for adults,” so my daughter Hayley got to choose a couple activities. The first was Sloomoo Institute. She found it on the Zigazoo app and was beyond excited to go. To be honest, it was SO MUCH FUN. We got a behind the scenes tour of how they make the slime. The actual experience itself was definitely worth the price. There was so much slime and interactive areas, plus we got to make our own custom jars.
My Sloomoo name was Tooryn. You replace the vowels with two “o’s” 😎
Next day, we went to Helen, Georgia. Eh, I don’t know I remember it being completely different when I was a kid. Granted that was 30+ years ago but we didn’t spend a lot of time there. The highlight was finding cheesecake fudge.
So we ditched that place and went to see Babyland, the Cabbage Patch Kids Hospital. This place is interesting. First of all it’s HUGE, like a mansion. I read that it used to be a medical facility. Second, the tree gives birth which is also quite the experience. It’s well kept up, the nurses are quite good actors, and they have a whole Christmas section so it was worth stopping.
Most days, we ate a buffet at the lodge and it was really really good. One night we ate at an adorable local restaurant. The food was wonderful, but I am going to skip to the highlight- chocolate filled beignets. The first came with strawberry sauce and we didn’t love it so we got another with powdered sugar. It was ridiculously tasty. Give me 12, they’re that good.
We finished the trip with more hiking (in the rain) and zip lining. Definitely a trip to remember, can’t wait til 2024 vacations!
