Sockerbit made me understand why Swedish candy has gone viral

Swedish candy has become one of the biggest sweets crazes in the U.S., and after trying it, I am hooked!

Swedish candy has been all over social media lately. So many people are discovering just how different it is from the standard gummies we’re used to in the U.S. I love trying sweets, so I was super curious to see if all the attention was deserved. After trying a bunch of flavors from Sockerbit, why it’s gone viral. 

Swedish candy has become a major sweets craze

One of the biggest reasons Swedish candy stands out is the variety. I love how every single bag has a whole bunch of everything. It’s why it’s just so fun to eat. A typical mix can include chewy gummies, soft foam candies, intensely sour pieces and sweeter options, all with different shapes and textures.

I’m a huge texture person so that’s a big win too- they have the perfect chew.

Sockerbit’s back story

Sockerbit is not a brand that appeared simply because Swedish candy started gaining attention on social media. The company was founded in 2010 by Florence Baras and Stefan Ernberg, who opened the first Sockerbit store in New York City.

The name Sockerbit means “sugar cube” in Swedish, and the brand was created around the traditional Swedish candy experience. In Sweden, pick-and-mix candy is a long-standing tradition, with customers choosing their favorites from a large assortment rather than buying just one type of candy in a package.

Sockerbit brought that idea to the U.S. years before Swedish gummies became such a talked-about category. Today, the company sells a large assortment of Swedish and European candy, including sweet, sour and foam varieties, along with pre-made mixes.

The company also emphasizes quality ingredients and says its candy is made according to strict European food standards.

The sour candy was my absolute favorite

I tried several Sockerbit varieties, including sweet and sour mixes, and I truly loved it all. If I didn’t have type 1 diabetes, I would have eaten a whole bag.

My daughter has really gotten me into sour candy, and this brand’s was especially chewy and sour. These had much more of a punch than some that we try, which I really liked. The Sour Foamy Lips & Skulls were a great example. They had a strong sour flavor on the outside, but the inside was softer and slightly fluffy. 

If you are someone who really likes sour candy, I think Sockerbit’s sour selections are SO worth trying.

The sweet foam candies are really fun to eat

The sweeter candies were just as good, but for completely different reasons. The foam candies had such a cool texture. They were soft and fluffy with a light chew, almost somewhere between a gummy and a marshmallow.

The mixed bags were probably my favorite overall because you get both sides of the candy. Some pieces are tart and chewy, while others are soft and sweet. It made the mix super addicting.

I could see this being especially fun for someone who likes trying different candies.

The final bite

After trying Sockerbit, I would absolutely order it again. Swedish candy may be a trend right now, but this candy is something I’d stay hooked on. It was genuinely fantastic, and I completely understand the hype.
