I picked up a package of chocolate-covered caramel Oreos at TJ Maxx the other day and flipped because they were so good. I had to recreate them, and I have to say that these are even better. These Salted Caramel Chocolate-Covered Oreos have a thin layer of soft caramel between the cookie and milk chocolate, then a little coarse salt goes right on top. You get chocolate, caramel, crunch, and salt all in one bite. It won’t take long to see why I find these absolutely irresistible.

These have rich chocolate flavor from the Oreo and milk chocolate coating, with buttery caramel adding a soft, chewy layer. The coarse salt cuts through the sweetness and gives each bite that sweet-and-salty finish. The Oreo in the center keeps everything crunchy, so you get a mix of crisp, creamy, chewy, and smooth textures.

The caramel layer is the twist here. Instead of dipping a plain Oreo directly into chocolate, each cookie gets a thin swirl of caramel first, adding a soft, chewy center between the crisp cookie and smooth chocolate shell.

Makes about 16–18 cookies
When dipping, you can keep the caramel side facing up. This makes the Oreo easier to slide off the fork and onto the baking sheet.
Or, dip it with the caramel side facing down so the caramel ends up underneath the cookie. I prefer the way they taste this way because you get the caramel right along with the chocolate when you bite into it, but they are a little trickier to remove from the fork.
Yes. Dark chocolate or white chocolate melting wafers will work too, but milk chocolate gives these a classic chocolate-caramel flavor.
Keep it fairly thin. You want enough to taste the caramel without adding so much that it runs off the cookie when you dip it.
Letting it firm up helps keep the caramel in place once the Oreo goes into the warm melted chocolate.
Yes. Once the chocolate has completely set, store the cookies in an airtight container at room temperature.
No, but it makes a big difference in the flavor. Just a small pinch helps balance the sweetness of the milk chocolate and caramel.

Make a batch to keep around as a little pick-me-up treat throughout the week. They’re perfect for those afternoons when you want something sweet with just enough salt to make it extra good.
Chocolate sprinkle cookies are the base for mini ice cream sundaes with all the fun toppings.
