Hey! I'm Taryn. Welcome to our blog. I cant wait to help you sprinkle a little fun into your kitchen.
Welcome!
Summer has always been my favorite season. School is out, the days are longer, and everything feels so alive. I am also a huge fan of summer desserts…no surprise! Below is a list of my top 10 favorite summer flavors and my favorite ways to enjoy them in desserts.
Watermelon- A classic, but not too long ago I found a new fun way to eat it! I chop watermelon, top it with whipped cream, and stick it in the freezer. Freeze it until it’s firm but not frozen. It’s super cold, icy, and the whipped cream tastes like ice cream. A lighter dessert that’s perfect for hot days and filled with flavor.
Pineapple Coconut- This combo is classic for Pina Coladas but translates so nicely into cupcakes. I love using a pineapple rum cake base, pineapple filling, and coconut frosting. Decorate them with extra coconut and maybe add a splash of rum into the frosting too 😉
Strawberry Orange- I made these ice pops a lot last summer. All you do is take non-alcoholic strawberry daiquiri mix and blend it with orange sherbet. Put the mixture into popsicle molds and freeze!
Key Lime Pie- I cannot stress how good this recipe is: found here. It’s made with white chocolate, pretzels, golden grahams, marshmallows, and of course key lime. You’ll make this again and again, it’s that amazing!
Vanilla Chocolate Chip- Yes, I am speaking about ice cream and chocolate chip cookie ice cream sandwiches are my absolute favorite dessert. Get bakery cookies and fill them with quality vanilla bean ice cream. They’re always the first ice cream novelty to go!
Lemon Marshmallow- Want a twist on s’mores?? Twist a lemon Oreo apart and fill it with a piece of white chocolate and a melted marshmallow and they are heavenly!
Blue Raspberry- A jello pie is a super fun recipe for kids. All you need is a box of jello and water for boiling, a tub of whipped topping and a graham cracker crust. Make the jello, whisk in the whipped topping, Pour it into the crust and refrigerate overnight.
Neapolitan- Technically this is an extremely popular year-round ice cream flavor, but it feels so nostalgic during summer. There’s nothing like a banana split made with Neapolitan ice cream and loaded with toppings.
S’mores- Summer camp would not be complete without s’mores. Roasted marshmallows over a campfire just scream summer and most kids love the sticky sweet entertainment. Last summer, we experimented with different flavors- flavored marshmallows, dark chocolate, and best of all…the patriotic themed white chocolate Hershey’s bars. They are super festive and so tasty. This is what they look like.
Creamsicle- Last but not least is my favorite orange and vanilla combo. I am a huge fan of getting a classic Creamsicle from an ice cream truck, but last week I made a bowl of half orange sherbet and half vanilla ice cream and it was just as good…maybe better.
