On Wednesdays my daughter gets out early, so we decided to take a trip to Disney’s Pop Century Hotel for a few hours. This hotel has five different sections- 50’s, 60’s, 70’s, 80’s, and 90’s. Our plan was to check out each section, grab a bite to eat, try a new dessert, hit the arcade, and go shopping!
When you check into the hotel, they have the most interesting shadow boxes filled with memorabilia from the various decades. I miss the old school Gameboy!
We started off by ordering chicken fingers at the Food Court (again!) I love their chicken fingers, but to be honest my focus was the dessert 😂
Had a good spot in front of the tv 😉
It was a tough choice, but we decided on their special POP Goes Bananas Cupcake and Flashback Oatmeal Creme Pie. The cupcake was a yellow cupcake filled with banana pastry creme and topped with vanilla frosting and the cute happy face decoration. The oatmeal pie was actually an oatmeal raisin cookie sandwich! The filling was marshmallow creme and it was topped with the chocolate flower swirls.
I still wish their cupcakes weren’t served ice cold, but when it warmed up a bit the flavor was amazing. The banana filling was perfect and not overpowering. The frosting never softened, but it was a traditional vanilla flavor which paired nicely with the other elements.
Now, I LOVE oatmeal raisin cookies, so this was an absolute dream to me. The cookies were super soft and it had just the right amount of filling. My daughter wasn’t crazy about either dessert (the flavors were sort of adult), but she got soft serve swirl later on in the day!
(Soft Serve LOL)
First stop…the 1950’s. Most favorite part of this section was Lady and the Tramp. The had both HUGE characters and the dog house from the movie.
This is the pool area, and the tabletop juke box is beyond cute. Other than the main pool, this one was my favorite.
Next stop is the 60’s. This section was really fun and had the whole “flower power” vibe.
In all honesty, I never knew most of the novelty stuff actually came from that decade. The platform shoes and mood rings were most definitely 1970’s! I didn’t know about the foosball table or big wheel though.
The 1980’s and 90’s section were sort of connected to me so I included them both below. I feel like the 80’s could have been much better.
One of my favorite movies is Roger Rabbit. So underrated!
These computers don’t actually feel that old to me 😂
We ended with a trip to the arcade and a little shopping from the hotel store. SUCH a fun day…going back next week!
