valentine's day fruit loops treats

Fruit Loops came out with a Valentine's Day cereal, and it's just way too cute. They're bright, fun, fruity heart shapes which I had to make into cereal treats. The sweet marshmallow gooey-ness makes these such a fun Valentine's treat...just ask my nephew, Brayden. I've made them TWICE for him this year. It's a super simple recipe that would be so fun to make with kids!

Ingredients:
  • 1/2 stick (4 tbsp) salted butter
  • 1 bag (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 6-7 cups of Kellogg's Fruit Loops Sweethearts Cereal (depending on how gooey you like them. The less cereal, the gooey-er!)
  • Valentine's Day sprinkles for decorating

Instructions:
  1. Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray and set it aside.
  2. In a large pot, melt the butter and marshmallows over medium heat, stirring frequently so that the mixture doesn't burn.
  3. Remove the pot from the heat and stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. Gently stir in the cereal until you reach 6-7 cups. Press the mixture into the baking dish. I spray a spoon or fondant smoother with cooking spray so that it doesn't stick!
  5. Add a generous amount of Valentine's Day sprinkles on top.
  6. Let them set for at least an hour at room temperature. Cut them into bars and enjoy!
