I started off the week by experimenting with and trying new snacks! I stopped by a Publix that I normally don’t shop at and found these Oreo lofthouse-style cookies. I used them for a Disney-inspired treat that I am SUPER excited for.
The last sprinkle mix that I turned into a cake is a mint chocolate chip-cosmic brownie mashup. It was soooo good. And the best part is that the sprinkle mix is filled with chocolate crunchies, some metallic and some rainbow.
I tried the new McFlurry from McDonalds, and I’m on the fence about it. I think that I was expecting it to have more of a Butterfinger or even Nutter Butter taste, but it was more of a peanut butter wafer flavor. I’d say 6/10.
My daughter and I had one last trip before school started. It was a girls trip to Disney, and we stayed at the Old Key West Resort. We met friends and swam and ate at the restaurant there. The cupcake below was dessert, and it was so not good lol. It was caramel apple flavor- vanilla cake with an apple filling and caramel mousse under the fondant apple dome. It sounded like it would be wonderful but somehow those flavors just did not go together…the wrong kind of sweetness all mixed together.
At night, my daughter and I took a boat ride over to Disney Springs. We got treats from Goofy’s candy shop, new Halloween merchandise, and listened to the live show they had going on. I wish we weren’t so full because we really wanted to try the churros. I am tempted to re-create them.
The next morning, we went to Disney Springs again to get one thing we had forgotten the day before. We got there early, and it was deserted! So nice…we got to really take a look at things you miss during the day like the Elemental display. I loved that movie, so underrated.
Tried a Starbucks Lemonade- definitely good but too sweet to finish more than 1/3. I also love the Springs part (below) of Disney Springs. I’d love for them to make a Springs themed water park.
After that, we headed to Hollywood Studios. We ate lunch at the Sci-Fi drive in. The food was pretty good, I just wish the movies they had playing were better. It’s like a hodge podge of old sci-fi clips which really aren’t that interesting. From there we got the CUTEST popcorn bucket. It’s a picnic basket and even has little ant decorations on the sides and top.
Hayley got to meet Mickey and Minnie, and they looked very fancy in their Hollywood and sorcerer outfits. We finished the day with a quick ride on Tower of Terror. PS- it was the hottest day I’ve ever felt in a while. I can compare it to an underwater oven.
Over the weekend, I took a mini work trip to Hotel Kinetic. It’s a hotel in Orlando near Universal Studios. I had never been here before, but I loved it!! A nice way to wind down after a busy week.
Honestly, I didn’t have any expectations for this restaurant, but the food was so so good. I tried the Korean Style Crispy Pork Belly which was mind-blowing. I am definitely going to try to re-create it.
For dessert, I got key lime pie and this blew me away too. It tasted like the lemon pie Chick-fil-A used to have, but a key lime flavor. I am 100% re-making this one. The crust was dense but not chewy or crunchy. The texture was perfect for the filling.
Also had the whole gym to myself which was a dream. I started a new book series that hooked me right away- The Inheritance Games…anyone read that?
Lastly, it was time for my daughter to head back to school! We went a little crazy decorating her locker 😂
She did her 4th grade sign all by herself. Probably for the best because I’m not a mom that’s great at those things lol.
I also got back to my normal routine! For all of the sweets and treats that I make, my food is really boring. Turkey meatballs, broccoli, butternut squash, guacamole, asparagus, and an apple. I’m going to up my game a little bit in September.
Hope everyone has a great week!
