This past weekend, we tried the new restaurant at Toy Story Land in Hollywood Studios, and we were SO SO excited. It’s called Roundup Rodeo and it is themed around Woody’s character from the movie.
In all honesty, I didn’t check the menu until the day of the reservation, and I was surprised to see that it was a family-style restaurant. I love FS dining because it’s such a fun way to try everything, particularly things I would never normally choose.
The restaurant is right at the entrance of Toy Story Land. You walk through the Roundup Rodeo arch, and the whole waiting area is themed. I love that it looks like it’s all drawn/put together by kids. Totally fits the movie and the cartoons are adorable. The “A” on the flag below for Andy is such a cute extra touch.
When our name got called, they led us to our table and they gave my daughter a stick pony to “ride in” on. The kids get a special menu and coloring page. The back of the activity sheet had Toy Story trivia, and I am ashamed to say I only knew one answer! Good thing they’re written on the other side.
The regular menu is below. You get all 3 salads, cheddar biscuits, all of the meat and then you can choose four sides. The desserts are listed at the bottom and you get all of those too!
Below is the other side of the restaurant. Our side was a bit brighter, but this side had a darker glow in the dark space feel to it.
We tried two of the non-alcoholic drinks to start. The first was a cocoa “smoothie.” It’s described as vanilla and chocolate with marshmallows. This one wasn’t great…it oddly enough wasn’t cold. Almost tasted like a protein shake.
This drink was SO GOOD. It tasted like Pez and had gummy worms at the top. Definitely sweet, but the flavor was a lot better than the chocolate.
The cheddar biscuits came out first. They tasted similar to Red Lobster but the pepper jelly really set them apart. I wasn’t sure if it was my thing, but it went perfectly with the biscuits. The pepper wasn’t overpowering and the jelly wasn’t thick. Made for a really nice dipping sauce.
They brought out all 3 salads next. My favorite was the one closest in the photo. It was marinated cucumbers and tomatoes and I could have eaten the whole tray. The salad in the back was a kale salad with apples and green goddess dressing. Lastly the watermelon salad was pretty much chopped watermelon with mint. Both were pretty good, but my daughter did not love the mint addition, ha!
For the sides, we chose the corn on the cob, veggies, mac n cheese, and potato barrels. I loved the veggies, they were so perfectly cooked. Did not like the corn but it’s a personal preference. Too much extra stuff for me, but if you like street corn you’d love it. The mac n cheese was probably one of the best I’ve ever had IN MY LIFE. It doesn’t look like much, but it was incredible. The pasta wasn’t soggy, the cheese had a really simple but not over-powerful flavor and the extra crunch on top gave it the best texture. The potato barrels were also amazing. Perfectly crispy.
The meat portion came with ribs, sausage, bbq chicken, and brisket. It was definitely all good, but I gravitated to the ribs and sausage. I used the Sweet BBQ sauce which was also fantastic.
Lastly, and of course my favorite part, was dessert. I have never been to a family-style restaurant that did unlimited dessert like this where you could try everything! Definitely a plus. First we tried the strawberry peach jar. This one was way better than expected. The combo was sweet and not too tart. Next was the apple pie- basically exactly what you’d expect. The chocolate silk jar was wonderful, just like a deconstructed pie. We got two of those! I didn’t love the last one- lemon blueberry cheesecake. The lemon part was a little too creamy and the blueberry was intense. BUT…my favorite was the little unassuming cupcake. It’s a chocolate cupcake with graham cracker frosting and then a Forky cookie. The cupcake was moist and rich and the frosting was the perfect balance of sweetness. The cookie was INCREDIBLE. Soft yet crisp somehow and topped with the best tasting fondant- one you’d actually eat! Got two of these as well!!
Overall, this is one of my new favorite restaurants at Disney World. The atmosphere was amazing it really held true to the movie. The food was phenomenal, and there’s definitely something for everyone. I would 150% go back!
