• 1/2 cup melted butter
• 1 egg
• 1 8 oz package cream cheese (softened)
• 2 eggs
• 4 cups powdered sugar
• 1/4 cup cocoa powder

Instructions

1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and spray a 13 x 9 dish with baking spray.
2. Combine the cake mix, butter, and egg, and then press it into the pan. There’s definitely enough to cover the bottom you just have to work to spread it 🙂
3. Beat the cream cheese, eggs, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder until smooth.
4. Pour the mixture over the crust and top it with the chocolate chips. Bake it for 35 minutes. Remove it from the oven and top it with the mini marshmallows. Bake it for an additional 8-10 minutes, then let cool.
5. Top with hot fudge and more mini marshmallows if desired

This holiday season, why not bring a little mug-of-cocoa magic to your dessert table with this Hot Cocoa Gooey Butter Cake? It’s everything we love about hot chocolate, but in a super-festive cake! Imagine a rich, chewy chocolate base topped with a gooey layer of creamy chocolate filling, sprinkled with melty chocolate chips and toasty mini marshmallows – all finished off with hot fudge and MORE mini marshmallows. It’s cozy, indulgent, and perfect for any Christmas party or movie marathon.

Creating the base is as easy as mixing chocolate cake mix with melted butter and an egg. It gives you a chewy, chocolatey crust that holds up the creamy chocolate filling on top. It might seem like there’s not enough for the base of the pan, but keep pressing and spreading it out! Once it’s totally pressed into your baking dish, you’re set for the next layer of chocolate.

This part is the gooey factor! Beat together cream cheese, eggs, powdered sugar, and cocoa powder until it’s silky smooth. Pour it over your crust, sprinkle some milk chocolate chips on top for an extra layer of texture, and pop it in the oven. In just over half an hour, your kitchen will be filled with the most delicious scent of chocolate cake – but we’re not done yet!

Now, for the ultimate hot cocoa touch: top it with mini marshmallows and bake it until they’re soft and toasty. Add a final dollop of hot fudge and a few extra marshmallows to make it picture-perfect. Serve it up with a big mug of cocoa, and you’ve got a dessert that’s holiday-ready-to-go!
