Holiday M&M’s Cookies
December 23, 2024
There’s something about baking holiday cookies for little kids that makes the season feel even more fun! I decided to make these Holiday M&M’s Cookies for my niece’s preschool class, and they turned out to be the perfect treat—soft, chewy, and filled with pops of red and green thanks to the mini M&Ms. The recipe was straightforward and quick, which was a lifesaver during such a busy time of year. In just 10-12 minutes, I had a batch of golden, chocolate-studded cookies ready to cool and pack up. Of course, I had to taste a couple fresh from the oven, and let me tell you—they’re definitely going into my holiday baking rotation!
Holiday M&M’s Cookies
Ingredients
- 1 cup (2 sticks) salted butter, softened
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 2 eggs
- 2 tsp vanilla extract
- 2 3/4 cups all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1 1/2 cups mini Holiday M&Ms
- 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips or a mix of chocolate and white chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees and line 2 cookie sheets with parchment paper. This will make approximately 45-48 cookies, so you’ll be using each sheet twice.
- In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until fluffy, about 2-3 minutes.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing after each. Add in the vanilla and mix again.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the mini M&Ms and the chocolate chips.
- Using a 1 3/4″ cookie scoop, place the scoops of dough 2″ apart on the baking sheets.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden and the centers are set but soft. Do not overbake because the cookies will firm up as they cool.
- Let the cookies cool for about 5 minutes on the baking sheet, then transfer them to wire racks to cool completely.
When my niece’s preschool class needed cookies for a holiday treat, I knew I had to whip up something kid-friendly and fun. These Holiday M&M Cookies were the perfect choice: soft, chewy, and packed with mini M&Ms (a top chocolate pick for little ones!)
The recipe was super simple to pull together. It starts with creaming the butter and sugar and ends with folding in the chocolate! This recipe makes about 45-48 cookies—plenty for all the kids, the teachers, and a few extras for me (quality control, obviously). They baked up in just 10-12 minutes, which is perfect when you’re juggling a busy Christmas season day.
And the cookies? They turned out golden and soft, with just the right amount of chocolate in every bite. I let them cool before packing them up for delivery, but of course, I had to sample a couple first! SO GOOD! These cookies are officially my new go-to for any school holiday party.
