I’ll take dessert over flowers any day! Specifically, I’d love a box full of these Valentine’s Day Chocolate-Covered Oreos. They’re super easy to make, and Oreos are always fun to decorate. All you need are a few ingredients and you’ll look like a pro! Trust me…I’ve never gotten less than rave reviews on these. What’s not to love 😉

Did you know I worked in a chocolate factory for 13 years? It’s probably no surprise that I make a lot of chocolate content on social media! One of the most popular treats from my chocolate factory days—deservedly so—is the classic chocolate-covered Oreo. So, of course I had to dress one up for Valentine’s Day!
What makes these extra special is using a Spinning Leaf mold. It creates a slightly thicker chocolate layer with the perfect chocolate-to-cookie ratio. Plus, the top comes out super smooth, making them easy (and fun!) to decorate.
When it comes to chocolate, Ghirardelli melts are my go-to. They have the perfect consistency—none of that thick, stubborn texture that doesn’t pour properly. You know, those really waxy melts? Not these! Ghirardelli is silky, smooth, and melts like a charm every time.
For coloring chocolate, I always use Colour Mill’s oil-based food coloring. (Oil-based is key—anything else and your chocolate will seize up!) For these Oreos, I stuck with classic milk chocolate because you can’t go wrong with the original.
I found these decorations at Target, and if you haven’t checked out their holiday baking section, you’re in for a treat! They’ve really expanded their collection. Their 2D icing pieces are so adorable now, you don’t even need to hunt them down at specialty stores anymore.
To attach the decorations, I use a little white Ghirardelli chocolate as “glue.” Just a small dab works perfectly. I keep white, milk, and dark chocolate melts on hand because they’re all fantastic.
If the edges of your Oreos have extra chocolate, don’t stress! You can roll the edges on wax paper, trim with a tool, or (my favorite) snip the excess with food scissors—it’s super easy!
If you’re like me, chocolate beats flowers any day—especially on Valentine’s Day. These Oreos are a must-try! They’re fun to make with kids, and everyone loves getting them as a favor. So, if your love language is chocolate, grab your Ghirardelli melts, Spinning Leaf mold, and get creative. Say “I love you” with chocolate this year 😉
