This week’s mini adventure was to the Festival of the Arts at Epcot. It was a rainy day, but that worked out perfectly since it was National Hat Day. I started a new page on Instagram, TikTok, and YouTube called @lifeandthemeparks if you want to see what we do here in Orlando! It’s really just a page for fun because honestly, we have such a good time making these videos.
First stop was a taste test for National Pie Day coming up. The booth by Test Track “The Deconstructed Dish” had a Deconstructed Key Lime Pie. Here’s the description- flexible Key lime curd, “Key lime” mousse, graham cracker cake, and meringues. Ours also has raspberry puree and fresh raspberries. I wasn’t sure how this was going to be, but WOW it was for sure 10/10. The key lime curd had the perfect tartness. The mousse was lighter and a bit sweeter and when you added all of the other elements it was the perfect balance. The graham cracker cake is something I’d definitely like to replicate. It tasted like a regular mini cake with a crunchy graham cracker outside. The meringues had the perfect crunch and I thought it was super smart to use the raspberry puree PLUS the fresh raspberries. Two kinds of raspberry flavor.
Next stop was to the Odyssey to get the limited edition popcorn bucket. We filmed this for National Popcorn Day, and I was surprised there was rainbow popcorn in the bucket! I was expecting regular, but this was a nice little surprise. It was really just sweetened colorful popcorn, not a fruity flavor. And it was perfect for the Journey to Imagination bucket.
After that we went on a little journey “around the world.” We were looking for hats for National Hat Day and Winnie the Pooh merchandise in the UK for National Winnie the Pooh Day.
The Winnie the Pooh area was so super cute. Pooh in the red telephone booth was adorable. There’s also a little meet and greet in the back of the pavilion that’s always empty because a lot of people don’t know about it!
We stopped off at Joffreys for a cronut and ate it in France for National Croissant Day. This is by far my favorite dessert on the planet. It has a croissant texture, but a coating like a glazed donut. I would give it 10000/100.
A few more highlights from our hat hunt. Canada had quite a few options and the Marvel were nicer than I thought they’d be. The Wish hat was fun, but I wouldn’t wear it…also, I did not love the movie. The white hat was from the Disney 100 merchandise and since it was on sale, with our passholder discount it was only $11!
We ended the day with some pictures and shots at the staged photo spots. Sleeping Beauty was my favorite, and I loved all of the little picture frame setups around the park.
That’s all for this week! More adventures coming soon 🙂
