Chocolate-covered Oreos with bright and fun A+ details that are perfect for back-to-school!
Honor Roll Chocolate-Covered Cookies are such a fun way to celebrate back-to-school season. Oreos get covered in chocolate and have bright and colorful A+, apple, and leaf details on top. They do take a little patience since each color needs to be piped and set separately, but the finished cookies are totally worth it and perfect for a school-themed surprise.
Flavor Profile
These have a classic cookies-and-cream flavor with a sweet white chocolate coating on the outside. The chocolate gives them a firm shell, while the Oreo stays crunchy in the center. You can also use different Oreo flavors to change up the flavor combination.

The Twist
Instead of simply dipping Oreos in chocolate, these are made in a detailed A+ mold. The layered chocolate design turns a regular chocolate-covered Oreo into a back-to-school themed treat.
Ingredient Highlights
Oreos: Use any flavor you like as long as it fits inside the mold.
White melting wafers: These melt smoothly and work well for filling detailed chocolate molds.
Oil-based food coloring: Use coloring specifically made for chocolate so the melted wafers stay smooth.
1 A+ Chocolate-Covered Oreo Mold from Spinning Leaf
1 bag Ghirardelli White Melting Wafers
Oil-based food coloring in yellow, pink, green, and blue
1 package Oreos, flavor of your choice
Piping bottles fitted with small round tips
Instructions
Place the mold on a flat surface. Melt the chocolate according to the package directions.
Spoon a small amount of melted chocolate into a bowl and tint it yellow. Transfer it to a piping bottle and carefully pipe the A+ section of each mold. Refrigerate for 10–15 minutes, or until set.
Repeat the process with pink chocolate for the apple and green chocolate for the leaf, chilling between each color so the details stay in place.
Tint the remaining melted chocolate blue. Pour enough into each cavity to fill it about halfway.
Place an Oreo in the center of each mold, then cover with additional blue chocolate until the cookie is completely covered. Gently tap the mold on the counter to release any air bubbles. If an Oreo starts to float up, lightly press it back down with the tip of a knife.
Refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or until completely firm.
Carefully remove the cookies from the mold and let them come to room temperature before serving.
FAQ
Do I need to chill each color before adding the next one?
Yes. Letting each detail set helps keep the colors from running together.
Can I use regular white chocolate?
You can, but Ghirardelli melting wafers are usually easier to work with when using detailed molds.
Can I use different Oreo flavors?
Yes. Classic, Golden, Birthday Cake, or limited edition Oreo flavors can all work.
Why does the Oreo rise in the chocolate?
The cookie can float slightly while the chocolate is still melted. Gently press it back down before chilling.
How should I store these?
Keep them in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. If your kitchen is warm, you can refrigerate them and let them come to room temperature before serving.
