1 onion, finely chopped (about 1 cup or use pre-chopped onions)
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 pound ground turkey breast
1 can (28 oz) crushed tomatoes
1 can (6 oz) tomato paste
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried basil
1 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper, to taste
Pasta of your choice (such as Barilla Protein Plus Spaghetti)
Instructions
Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
Add the garlic and cook for about 1 minute, until fragrant.
Add the ground turkey breast. Cook, breaking it apart with a spoon or meat chopper, until browned and cooked through.
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, oregano, basil, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Bring to a gentle simmer.
Reduce the heat to low and simmer for 15 to 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce thickens and the flavors meld.
Serve the sauce immediately over your favorite pasta, or let it cool completely before portioning into freezer-safe containers or resealable bags. Leave a little room at the top for expansion.
Label with the date and freeze for up to 3 months.
To Reheat:
Thaw in the refrigerator overnight or heat directly from frozen in a saucepan over medium-low heat, stirring occasionally until warmed through.
