Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sticks (1 cup) salted butter, softened
  • 3 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • 1 tablespoon pure vanilla extract
  • 46 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer, beat the softened butter on medium speed for 2–3 minutes until it’s light, pale, and creamy.
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, about 1 cup at a time, beating on low speed until fully combined.
  3. Once all the sugar is in, increase to medium-high speed and beat for 1–2 minutes.
  4. Add the vanilla extract and 4 tablespoons of heavy cream. Beat on medium-high for another 2–3 minutes until the frosting becomes fluffy and smooth.
  5. If the frosting is too thick, add more cream 1 tablespoon at a time until your desired consistency is reached. For an extra whipped texture, beat an additional 2–3 minutes on high speed.
  6. Use right away or store in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Let it come to room temperature and re-whip before using.
