Caramelized Onion and Apple Flatbread

  • 2 naan flatbreads or store-bought flatbread
  • 1 large sweet onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 apple (Honeycrisp or Gala), thinly sliced
  • ¾ cup shredded fontina or mozzarella cheese
  • Optional: thyme leaves, honey for drizzling, cracked black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook onions in butter and oil until caramelized—about 20–25 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  2. Preheat the oven to 425°F.
  3. Place flatbreads on a baking sheet. Sprinkle with cheese, top with onions and apple slices.
  4. Bake for 8–10 minutes until the cheese is melted and the edges are crisp.
  5. Slice into fingers, drizzle with a touch of honey, and sprinkle fresh thyme and black pepper on top.
